Saundra Anita Goforth, cherished wife, beloved mother and adored nana, passed away peacefully, February 19, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born August 10, 1950, Sandi moved through life with gentleness, bringing compassion, gratitude and an unyielding faith.
A gifted storyteller and singer, she charmed everyone she met with her smiling brown eyes and her gentle East Tennessee accent. She had genuine concern for others and showed them that their feelings, and their stories, mattered. It is no exaggeration to say she was loved by all who knew her.
Throughout her life, she was admired for her intelligence and kindness as well as her beauty. She was a respected professional in the field of corporate finance and managed a successful career. But her family was the center of her universe.
Her husband, Billy Ray Goforth, was the love of her life. Together, Ray and Sandi built a world of joy and laughter through the love of their tight-knit family. In her daughters and her grandchildren, she instilled boundless curiosity, a drive to help others and an appreciation for words. Her love for them was endless.
She has joined her parents, Lucille and William, and brothers, Curtis, Timothy and Richard.
She forever will be missed by her husband; daughters Cynthia Jerde (Gary) and Candace DeSantis (Dan); grandchildren Sara Jerde, Emma Jerde, Noah DeSantis, Isaac Jerde and Natalie DeSantis; great grandson Sullivan Hesse; sisters Brenda, Beulah and Nancy (Steve); and brother Dennis (Sandy).
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:31
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. - Psalms 30:5
A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a local library or food bank.
