Catherine Martin Obituary

Catherine Martin, age 75, was born on August 19, 1948, to Sarah Moss and Matthew Brown in Manhattan, New York. Cathy, along with her mother and younger sister, relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, during her childhood. She received her education through the Cleveland Public School System and graduated from John Hay High School. She furthered her studies at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York. Cathy pursued education and training diligently, including participating in Manpower training alongside her sister Belinda in Cleveland, Ohio. These endeavors culminated in a successful career at IBM spanning over 30 years. She was married to Tyrone Martin, who preceded her in death, and from this union, three children were born: Terrance, Tremaine, and Tyrone. In 1981, she found love again with Mr. Terach Yisrael. From this marital union, two more children were born: Malachi in 1983 and Hassede (Charde’) in 1985. Cathy had a passion for reading, painting, drawing, and shopping, displaying brilliance in every aspect of her life. She was not only a devoted daughter and niece to Grandma and Lou throughout her adult years but also a dedicated and trusted aunt to many in her family. Known as the "edit queen," she facilitated life-changing opportunities for numerous individuals. Her kindness and generosity extended throughout her professional endeavors, where she maintained the utmost professionalism. Her contributions will be deeply missed by all those she worked with and for. Catherine passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024. She is survived by Terach (“Put”) Yisrael; her mother, Sarah Wilson; five children: Terrance Martin, Tremaine Martin, Tyrone Martin Jr. (Kirsten), Malachi Yisrael, and Hassede (Charde’) Yisrael; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Belinda Bankhead; her brother, Jibrael Wilson (Taaliyah & Yasmean); her childhood friend, Mary Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Brown; Uncle Lucious Moss; Aunt Ruth; and Auntie Amanda
