Daniel David Kurpyl, 72, went to our Heavenly Father, May 12.He was a native Clevelander. His very first job was with a large HVAC/Plumbing company. Once he learned all he could, he started out on his own, and opened and grew a business on a smaller scale. From a very early age, he taught his older son the trade. For years, his son has operated a large, very successful business.
Daniel was a good golfer, and he enjoyed the cameraderie with his golfing buddies. He also liked attending sports events with family members and friends. He always put them first. He had a big heart, especially when it came to his family.
His grand and great grandchildren brought him great joy. They’d go to Pioneer Lake and Fun Park all summer long. His favorites there were the go-carts, tall slides and COLD BEER. They spent many happy days there. He often hosted cookouts for friends and family who always enjoyed getting together with him. The kids liked the s’mores he’d prepare on the grill. He was the best GrillMaster in town! His amazing zest for life set an example for all who knew him. He was a kind, gentle person and cared for the well-being of all his family, relatives, friends and neighbors.
Daniel grew up between TWO WORLDS—the INNER CITY and the RURAL LIFESTYLE on his grandmother’s farm in Denmark Township. His father John and two uncles, Mike and Wasyl, taught him a myriad of skills required to serve the community and to open the HVAC/Plumbing/Refrigeration business at which he worked hard for 50 years. He was super intelligent. He never criticized or gossiped, and he had the patience of a Saint. He had a smile and sweet grin for all. He helped the homeless, the mentally ill and the poor.
Daniel was predeceased by his parents Mary and John Kurpyl, and his siblings Patricia, Carol, Jay, James Kurpyl, and son Johnathan Gregg-Kurpyl. Surviving siblings are Mary Kurpyl Facella, Margaret Kurpyl, May Strah (Frank) and Cynthia Shukis. He was a loving father to Daniel Emerson (Vena), Catherine Gregg (Jeremy), and Steven Gregg (Sarah). Beloved grandfather to Daniel Emerson, Jr. (Jocelyn), Joshua, Marius, Payton, Damon, Kaiden, Jeremiah, Aniyah, Natalia, Alyssa Joece and Kalihanna; great grandfather of Shaelyn and Delaney Emerson.
May there be blessings and graces to all during this sorrowful time, as we hopefully anticipate Daniel’s reunion with so many souls for which he longs in the presence of the LORD.
