Margaret Violette Phillips (Nee LaKoma) formerly of Euclid passed away peacefully after a short illness in September 27, 2023 in Woodstock Georgia near her stepson Rick. Born October 7, 1936 to Violette Lauder and Joseph G. LaKoma, Margaret married Hugh J. Phillips in 1960; which is when Margie as she was known by family became stepmother to Hugh’s son Rick and moved to Euclid.
She was a devoted housewife to her fire fighter husband after her career as an executive secretary and after Hugh retired she was a secretary for the Greater Cleveland Police and Firefighters Widow and Retirees Association for many years, serving that community and never losing her intrest in it. Margie was also a former board member, along with her childhood friend Lucille, of the Euclid Historical Society, Margaret also supported various charities favorites being for animals, in tribute for her many pets through the years; Native American schools, as wellas disabled Veterans.
She will be missed by her stepson Hugh "Rick" daughter in law Lisa and granddaughter Julie Ann Phillips (Ben C). As well as nephew Michael (Evie) Rushin and family: and cousins Shelly and David along with other family and friends. A grave side service will be held at Knollwood Cemetery on October 6, 2023 being laid to rest next to her husband. A celebration of life will be held in June of 2024, but she will be remembered by her family and friends for her kindness, quick wit, and interest in others. In memory of Margaret please make a donation to your favorite charity.
